- The MSc Joint Entrance Examination (JAM) is an annual online entrance examination across India held by the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) on behalf of the Government of India’s Ministry of Human Resources Development (MHRD).
- The IIT JAM is conducted to accept candidates for masters and other postgraduate programs offered at IIT and also for an integrated doctoral program at the Indian Institute of Technology (IISc) (Bangalore).
- Several National Institutes of Technology (NIT) and Central Financial Technology Institute (CFTI) are also accepting JAM results for master’s degree admission.

Eligibility Criteria for Admission
Candidates should fulfill the following eligibility criteria for admission-
- A Bachelors Degree is a must for admission
- The candidate must have PASS the qualifying degree examination. If the candidate is promoted without the mark sheet, the promotion certificate or a document accompanying the promotion certificate duly signed by the Head of the Institute must mention the subjects taken in that semester/year to evaluate the MEQ requirements for admission to a specific program.
- Foreign nationals with Indian degree are eligible to apply, subject to the admitting institute’s policy.
- A Physical Fitness Certificate duly signed by the registered medical practitioner must be submitted at the time of admission.

Application Procedure For IIT JAM
Steps for filling IIT JAM application For
Step 1:JOAPS Registration
Candidates should first register at the JAM Online Application Processing System (JOAPS) by filing the necessary details. After completing the registration you will get an SMS and e-mail containing information regarding their enrollment ID. Save the Enrollment ID for future reference. For Registration, you can visit the Official Website of IIT JAM Exam i.e. https://jam.iitr.ac.in/
Step 2: Fill Required Details In The Application Form
Candidates can use their enrollment IDs and Passwords for login. And then can fill in the required information carefully.
Scan and Upload the Required documents, photo and signature as per the size given.
Step 3: Payment of Application Fee
Candidates need to check all the filled details carefully and then proceed to the payment option. Candidates can pay the application fee in online mode through internet banking/ debit card/ credit card. After payment, a confirmation dialog box will appear on the screen.
Application fee:
- Female candidates applying for one paper- Rs. 750/-
- Female candidates applying for two papers-Rs. 1,050/-
- All other category candidates applying for one paper-Rs. 1,500/-
- All other category candidates applying for two papers-Rs. 2,100/-
