Motivation
Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) is the largest research and development (R&D) organisation in India.Innovation prize for school children to create awareness, interest and motivation for intellectual Property has been created to support the scientific temperament and to generate the spirit of innovation in school children.
Award
CIASC (CSIR Innovation Award for School Children) is an annual national competition aimed at harnessing the creative and innovative spirit of school-aged children.
The competition was launched in 2002 on the occasion of World Intellectual Property Day which is celebrated around the world on April 26th. CSIR invites students to submit their original creative technology and design ideas in the form of a competition proposal.
Support
The proposals invited at prices are intended to explore ideas and provide the feasibility or the possibility of designing intellectual property rights. Winning works are selected based on novelty and usefulness for each new concept either an idea or a project or a solution to an existing problem or a completely new method / device / utility.
Proposal
The proposals presented must be new and useful.It could be a new concept, idea, design or solution to an existing problem, or a completely new method or process or device utility.
The concept of innovation must have been demonstrated through a model, a prototype or experimental data.Students are encouraged to focus on innovation through design ideas.
The specifics of the innovation suggestions must be submitted in hard copy in English/Hindi (not more than 5000 words) and accompanied by an authenticity certificate (with seal and date) provided by the Principal / Head of the School where the student is enrolled.
The title of the Innovation, the candidate’s name and date of birth, the school and residential address, the class, the telephone number (residence/school), and the e-mail address must all be included in the proposal.
Selection
The CIASC prize submission should about inventions that were produced, published, or displayed between January 1 and December 31.
Note
Applications should be written in English or Hindi and include the required drawings/photographs. The article must provide the subject matter in a problem-solving manner, emphasising the innovation’s unique characteristics and benefits. A high-level Awards Selection Committee will choose the honorees. The Award Selection Committee’s/decision CSIR’s shall be final and binding on the applicants, and no inquiries or communication will be considered in this respect.
Eligibility Criteria
Any Indian school student up to Class XII who is under the age of 18 is entitled to apply in English or Hindi via the school’s Principal/Head of School (for authentication purposes).
A student or a group of students can submit a proposal. A single prize, however, will be handed to a group of pupils.
Biotechnology/biology, Chemical, Electronics & Engineering/device, and design would be the categories for the proposals. Design-based applications, on the other hand, are encouraged. Any new thought, idea, design, or solution to an existing problem, or wholly new method/device/utility that is eligible for consideration must be unique and useful.
Prize
Prizes and number of prizes Cash prizes are available.
There are 15 prizes in all. The monetary rewards, in addition to a certificate, are as follows:

It is not necessary to offer all of the aforementioned 15 awards for the award.

Please keep in mind that all applications must be submitted in physical copy with authentication through the mail.
On the innovative claims being made, a letter (with seal and date) from the School Principal is included.
Participants in the CSIR Innovation Award for School Children can also send their entries to https://ciasc.ipu@niscair.res.in. With the proposal, a scanned copy of the authentication certificate (with seal and date) issued by the Principal/Head of the School where the student is enrolled is required.

Declaration of the Awards
The Award is generally declared and distributed in New Delhi on or before 26th September which is CSIR foundation day and only Awardees will be informed. Travelling allowance will be given by CSIR.
