The National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT) is an autonomous organization established by the Government of India, where the Center’s Human Resources Development Department and the State / Regional Education Department develop policies and key programs, especially in education. In addition to some activities, NCERT and its subunits manage, support, promote and coordinate research in the field of school education.
Scope Of This Scheme
This program aims to enable young scientists to pursue their dissertations in education and other related disciplines. PhD fellows can continue to work after
in a university / research institution, but must be an accredited institution / university. NCERT promotes the application of original and innovative ideas in the conceptualization of problems and innovative methodologies in the implementation of school education and research.
Priority Areas
Fellowship will be given for research pertaining to the following priority areas:
- Teacher Educators’ Education
- Education of the Disadvantaged
- Classroom Processes and Practices
- Curricular Areas
- Education for Peace
- Psycho-social Development of Children
- Any Burning Issue in School Education
Eligibility Criteria For Fellowship
- Candidates with a good academic record with at least 60% marks at both Graduate and Post Graduate Levels are eligible for this fellowship.
- Candidates applying to this fellowship should not be more than 35 years of age as on the last date of receipt of applications.
- Candidates pursuing their Ph.D. degree in a recognized university/ or registered freshly for their Ph.D. are eligible to apply
Fellowship Amount
- NCERT Doctoral Fellows will receive a fellowship of Rs.23,000/- per month (for Non-NET) and Rs.25,000/- per month (in case of NET qualified candidates) for a maximum period of three years from the date of permanent Ph.D. registration and/or date of selection in NCERT.
- They will also receive a contingency grant of Rs.10,000/- per annum during this period.
- The scholarship begins the day you attend after submitting your permanent Ph.D. documents. Registration with NCERT will end 3 years after the date of admission or the date of submission of the dissertation, whichever comes first.
How To Apply For This Fellowship?
- The prescribed format of the application form should be filled by the applicant, which is present at the official website of NCERT i.e. www.ncert.nic.in
- Applications are accepted in online mode only. No other modes of application will be entertained.
- The last date of submitting the completed application is one month from the publication of the advertisement in the newspaper.
Selection Process
- The procedure for selecting candidates is designed by NCERT.
- Candidates who got shortlisted in the final selection must also appear in the interview.
- Final selection also Includes the presentation of proposal ideas.
