UP Board 10th class Grading System explained
For the calculation of Grade Points, the following formula needs to be used:
CGPA Formula = Total of grade points obtained in subjects / Total number of subjects.
The candidate can calculate grade points for each theory subject using the table given below.
Range of Marks | Allotted Grades | Grade points |
---|---|---|
91-100 | A1 | 10 |
81-90 | A2 | 9 |
71-80 | B1 | 8 |
61-70 | B2 | 7 |
51-60 | C1 | 6 |
41-50 | C2 | 5 |
33-40 | D | 4 |
21-32 | E1 | – |
Less than 21 | E2 | – |
After the calculation of the grade points of each subject, add all the grade points.
Then Divide the grade points with the total number of subjects and the final value obtained after calculation will
be the UP Board GPA.
Example for the calculation of the GPA
To pass the UP Board exam students need to get at least a Grade D. See the table below for easy understanding
to calculate grade point average:
Subject | Grades | Grade Points |
---|---|---|
English | B2 | 7 |
Hindi | A1 | 10 |
Maths | B2 | 7 |
Science | A2 | 9 |
Social Science | B2 | 7 |
Total | 40 |
The formula of GPA is
GPA=Total Grade Points/No. of Subjects in Total
GPA=40/5=8
Hence, the overall GPA is 8 so the Grade Point is B1.
Calculate Percentage from GPA
Percentage obtained = CGPA x 9.5
Percentage in Example=8×9.5=76%
