  • Veer Gatha Project in the honour of Gallantry Award Winners

Gallantry Award :

The gallantry awards are announced twice a year ie; on the occasion of Republic Day and Independence Day. This award is announced to honor the Defence Personnels, ther forces officials from lawfully constituted officials and civilians for their bravery acts perform every year.

Purpose of the Veer Gatha Project

Veer Gatha is basically a project proposed by the Ministry of Defence to make school students aware and sensitive toward the act of bravery and sacrifices made by the defence officials, other forces officials from lawfully constituted officials and civilians.

Project proposed by

Ministry of Defence had proposed to all the school boards and schools to ensure participation of their students to do projects and activities reflecting the honor towards gallantry award winners personnels and civilians.

Initiative taken by : To make the proposed project successful, Ministry of Education, Dept. of School Education & Literacy had organised the VEER GATHA PROJECT.

Types of activities : To participate in the project, students can perform any of the activities like; Multi - Media Presentation, Painting, Poem, Essay, etc.

Award goes to : As part of Veer Gatha Project, the students can perform activity on any of the acts of gallantry award winners personnels and civilians. Among those participant students, the top performer will be awarded by the Ministry of Defence (MoD) and Ministry of Education (MoE) on the Republic Day on January26, 2022.

my ward is in class 11. which type of topic he should write upon so that he would get selected in veer gaatha project winnes team?

Does all the Gallantry awards given to only armed forces of India? If someone from general public or railway forces or some other forces works very bravely, then they can also be given gallantry award or not?

Hi,
It depends upon the aptitude and interest of your ward. If he gets interest in essay, he can participate in essay competition. Similarly, if he like painting, he can take part in painting as well. Though, your ward is better judge about his efficiency, as a sincere parent you can observe his interest and guide him accordingly. If you had shared some information about his interest or which type of activities he spends more and more time without feeling exerted, i could be in better position to help decide the option of his choice.

Hi Raman,
Gallantry award is much more popular bravery award and people know of it in regard to the armed forces. On the other hand, if a person from civilian of India, performs a bravery job done without any fear of himself or herself and save someone’s life, he or she too get rewarded with gallantry awards. ‘Shaurya Chakra’ is one of those gallantry award that is awarded to the civilian as well as defence personnels for their bravery work during peacetime.
