SWANATH SCHOLARSHIP SCHEME FOR STUDENTS
- This scheme is Implemented by AICTE to promote and support orphans, wards of parents who died as a result of Covid-19, and wards of Armed Forces and Central Paramilitary Forces martyred in action (Shaheed) to continue education.
- This is an endeavour to provide every such child with the option to continue their education and prepare for a successful future by enrolling them in AICTE-approved institutions and courses.
Important features of this Scholarship Scheme
- It has been launched by the All India Council for Technical Education
- In order to get the benefit of the AICTE Swanath scholarship students are required to apply through the National scholarship portal.
- The list of shortlisted candidates will be uploaded on the AICTE portal
- In case if any student have any query regarding the merit list then the student can raise the grievance within a month
- If grades are given in the mark sheet then the grades will be converted into CGPA and then average CGPA will be calculated after that it will be converted into percentage
- If CGPA and total marks are given in the mark sheet then total marks will be considered in order to determine the percentage
- The applications will invite once a year through the National scholarship portal
- Incomplete application will reject.
- It is mandatory to have an Aadhar number in order to apply for this scholarship scheme
Eligibility Criteria for Applying
1)The candidate should belong to any one of the following categories:
(i) Orphan
OR
(ii) Either or both parents died due to Covid 19
OR
(iii) Wards of Armed Forces and Central Paramilitary Forces martyred in action (Shaheed)
AND
2) During the financial year of the application, the family’s total income from all sources should not exceed Rs. 8 lakh. A valid income certificate issued by State/UT Government is to be enclosed.
AND
3) The candidate should be currently studying in the AICTE Approved institutions and courses at Degree/ Diploma level in regular mode (in 1st /2nd / 3rd /4th year).
AND
4) The candidate must not have received any scholarships from the Central Government, State Governments, or AICTE.
Students fulfilling all the eligibility criteria are only eligible to apply for this scholarship.
NUMBER OF SCHOLARSHIPS:
Every Year a maximum of 2000 scholarships (1000 for Degree Students and 1000 for Diploma Students) is awarded every year to eligible candidates as above.
Amount Of Scholarship
- Rs. 50,000.00 per annum for each year of study, i.e. maximum 4 years for first-year admitted Degree students and maximum 3 years for first-year admitted Diploma students, as a lump sum amount for payment of college fees, purchase of computers, stationeries, books, equipment, software, and so on.
- In lieu of lodging and medical fees, no other additional grant will be provided. If a student is currently enrolled in the second, third, or fourth year of a degree programme, the scholarship will be reduced to 3/2/1 year.
- Similarly, students currently enrolled in the 2nd/3rd year of a diploma programme will have their scholarship term cut to 2/1 year.
Selection Criteria
For Degree Level: On the basis of the merits of the qualifying examination. Age and annual family income are two other factors to consider. In the event of a tie, the student with the higher percentage of marks will be placed first. Students who are older and have a lower annual family income will be ranked higher as well.
For Diploma Level: Candidates will be chosen based on their performance in the qualifying examination. In the event of a tie, Candidates that are older and have a lower annual income will be given a higher ranking.
Payment Mode
The applicants that got selected for the scholarship will be paid through DBT mode on annual basis.
Documents Required to apply for the Scholarship
For Orphan Students
- Death Certificates of both Father & Mother (if available)
OR
A certificate issued by Tehsildar / S DM as per a prescribed format.
- Legitimate certificate issued by the institution.
- 10+2 / equivalent and 10th Mark sheet for Degree Level
- 10th /equivalent Mark sheet for Diploma Level
- Category Certificate (SC/ST/OBC-NCL)
For Students whose either or both Parents Died due to Covid 19:
- Death Certificate of Father/Mother or both explicitly mentioning that the death was due to Covid-19.
- If one parent (Father or Mother) is alive, the current year income certificate, explicitly mentions that income of the family is less than 8 Lakh, issued by the Competent Authority.
- Bonafide Certificate issued by the institution.
- 10+2/equivalent and 10th Mark sheet for Degree Level
- 10th /equivalent Mark sheet for Diploma Level
- Category Certificate (SC/ST/OBC-NCL)
For Wards of Armed Forces and Central Paramilitary Forces martyred in action (Shaheed)
- Death Certificate
- Shaheed Certificate issued by the Armed Forces/ Central Paramilitary Forces
- Bonafide Certificate issued by the institution
- 10+2/equivalent and 10th Mark sheet for Degree Level
- 10th /equivalent Mark sheet for Diploma Level
- Current year income certificate, explicitly mentioning that income of family less than 8 Lakh, issued by Competent Authority.
- Category Certificate (SC/ST/OBC-NCL)
Students will be encouraged and supported through this scholarship programme. The AICTE Swanath Scholarship Scheme would also raise literacy rates and living standards. With the introduction of this scholarship programme, unemployment will be reduced as well.
