Normalization is actually a process that is used to neutralize and normalize the scores calculated on different parameters to equate the scores as per the notionally used common scale standard. It is basically done to adjust the difficulty level across the shifts of the particular exam and then to evaluate the performance of all the candidates on the basis of similar and universally accepted parameters.
IBPS calculates the marks using the normalization method to get a universal score among the total candidates appearing. Since the exam is getting held over a no. of days in multiple shifts and the question paper differs from shift to shift, the normalization method helps to adjust the score and helps in normalizing the result and publish it throughout the country.
Once entrance exams are finished in total shifts or slots, it’s time now to prepare the result and publish the same to complete that hiring cycle.
Since, a cut-off percentile is calculated based on the no. of vacancies, therefore, after assessment of the performance of each and every candidate, normalization work gets started based on the rank the students score, total no. of students in a slot, etc.
