A sub-committee of experts has been constituted by the Ministry of Education, Govt. of India in March 2021 for the development of e-content for disable children. Some guidelines have also been given to keep in mind while developing the e-content for those end users.
Some of the important guidelines given to keep in mind while developing the contents are :
Easy and ACCESSIBLE E-CONTENT to all Disable students
UNICEF and its Partners’ experience should be covered
Inclusion of INTELLECTUAL DISABILITIES AUTISM SPECTRUM DISORDER, MULTIPLE DISABILITIES, MENTAL ILLNESS
AND BLOOD DISORDERS
Guidelines to develop the e-content :
Lessons must be Simplified
Frequent memory checks for long lasting remembrance.
Provide more and more practices for retaining the learnt skills for further usage.
More and more situational activities based on health, hygiene and safety can be involved to see and hear and learn for long lasting memory.
The student can express ideas in either verbal or visual mode.
Use of more and more graphics variety in course material.
Should be simple, clean and structured both in layout and in content.
Avoid abstract terms like kind queen, honest farmer, magnificent palace, cruel king etc. Examples should be from day-to-day experiences.
Use language that is simple, direct, precise and logical.
Avoid complicated sentence construction
Use bullets, graphics, tables to make lessons easy to understand, etc.
