Calculations of scores with negative marking

Let’s suppose there is a negative marking of 0.25 for every wrong answer . No marks are awarded or deducted for Unattempted questions. Hence if you answer incorrectly 0.25 marks in total will be deducted from your total marks. And 1 mark will not be deducted along with 0.25. Only 0.25 will be deducted.

Suppose you have a paper of 200 marks and each question is for 1 mark and your correct answers are 150 and wrong answers are 50.

So here how to calculate ¼ negative marking for these marks?

As a result, if you have 150 correct answers and 50 incorrect responses, you have attempted all of the questions.
150 correct responses = 150 * 1 = 150 marks
50 incorrect responses = 50 *0.25 = 12.50 marks

So, how do you calculate marks with negative marking now?

So we’ll subtract 12.5 marks from 150 points because we received 150 accurate answers and each question is valued one mark.

So, here’s the answer to how to compute marks with negative marking-

Your Score = (150 points for correct answers) - (12.5 for incorrect answers) =137.5 marks
So, after calculating marks with negative marking, your total is 137.5 marks

Hi
Is this method to calculate the marks parctized by all the exam conduction authorities? Or, every exam conducting body applies it’s own method to calculate it?

Various exams have different negative markings most of them have a deduction of 1/4th of the marks for each wrong answer.
