In the next three years, the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) plans to train 10 lakh teachers and more than 1 crore students in Virtual Reality (VR) and Augmented Reality (AR) in conjunction with the tech giant Meta. Meta has already delivered a curriculum on digital safety, online well-being, VR, and AR as part of this relationship.
For grades VI through VIII, this will be introduced as a skill topic, and it will be integrated into STEM education till class XII. The goal is to make STEM education more democratic and accessible to everyone. Students will learn theory as well as participate in projects and internships. We also intend to do laboratory experiments in order to make learning more immersive and experiential.
In addition, students will be encouraged to use augmented reality and virtual reality in their business. Digital Etiquettes, Well-Being, Digital Citizenship, Digital Footprints, Cyber Safety and Security are just a few of the themes that will be discussed. Students would also be taught how to protect their passwords.
This Curriculum will provide a great opportunity for students to visualise and learn through immersive learning. Even a student in class VI can visualise how an engine is put together or how the heart and brain work. This is diametrically opposed to rote learning. This initiative will provide a significant benefit to the student community.
