The Performance Grading Index (PGI) is basically a kind of tool to project the status of school education in States across India and UTs including to show the their performance and critical areas for improvement.

The scale ranges from 0-10, where a 0 reflects failure in the examination, and level 10 reflects for academic excellence.

The PGI grading system has 10 levels.
Level 1 deserves top level performance with score between 951 and 1,000 points.
Level II deserves Grade 1++ with score between 901 and 950.
Level III deserves Grade 1+ with score between 851 and 900.

Satyathetruth This scale is the first of its kind. It will give the thrust to states and UTs to improve the multi-pronged interventions that will bring a better future in the educational field.
The purpose of the PGI is to help the states and UTs to point out the gaps between the infrastructures and development. By this scale measuring, we can plan the prioritization of things accordingly for intervention to ensure that the school education system is strong at every level.

The PGI will allow all states and UTs to occupy the highest level, that is Grade I. Grading allows all states and UTs to perform as star performers and be at Grade I, which is the ultimate goal of the PGI.
