MSDE and IGNOU signed a Memorandum of Understanding MOU to combine vocational and higher education
The Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship (MSDE) and Indira Gandhi Open University (IGNOU) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to improve the vocational and technical training framework. The goal of this collaboration is to connect vocational education and training with higher education, therefore making India’s young more employable by providing new pathways to greater job prospects.
This initiative will assist NSTI trainees who are affiliated with ITIs, PMKKs, and JSSs, with the purpose of providing them with upward mobility so that they can pursue further education and better job possibilities.
Students will be able to enroll in IGNOU’s three-year degree programme as a result of this agreement.
A total of 32 NSTIs, over 3,000 Government ITIs, 500 PMKKs, and almost 300 JSS will be affiliated with IGNOU as registration centers, examination centers, and work centers for hands-on training as a result of this relationship.
The programme will be monitored and reviewed by a Project Steering Committee that includes representatives from both MSDE and IGNOU.
The Memorandum of Understanding was created for a ten-year period, with the option of renewal if both parties agree.
