ASRB stands for Agricultural Scientists Recruitment Board. The board was established with the approval of Cabinet on 1 November, 1973 as an independent recruitment agency. Again, the Government of India has approved restructuring the board as per their decision in the meeting of the Union Cabinet held on 1 August, 2018.
Thus, at present ASRB has been delinked from ICAR and attached with the Department of Agricultural Research & Education (DARE) under the Ministry of Agriculture & Farmers’ Welfare, Government of India.
The Agricultural Scientists Recruitment Board (ASRB) conducts the
competitive examination for recruitment to the posts of Administrative Officer (AO) and Finance & Accounts Officer from time to time.
Educational Qualifications

Age Limit
As on the closing date of online registration of application, candidates should have attained the age of 21 years and must have not attained the age of 30 years. But, for the regular employees of the council, holding the post in administrative (ministerial) category will be relaxable upto 45 years.
The upper age limit prescribed above will be relaxable as per the government rules and regulations.
Application Procedure for the Departmental Candidates
All the candidates, who are in the services of Indian Council of Agricultural Research or in the any government services, whether in a permanent or in temporary basis or as work-charged employees, other than casual or daily rated employees, have to submit an undertaking that they have informed in writing their Head of Office/Department that they are applying for this examination.
Scheme of Examination for the post of Administrative Officers
The examination scheme for this post is divided into three parts as follows:
Tier-I Exam
Objective MCQ paper of 200 questions each of one mark. Duration of the Tier-I examination is 3 Hrs. This paper will be qualifying in nature and marks scored in it will not be carried forward.

Tier-II (Descriptive) Exam
The ASRB will prepare a list of candidates to be qualified for Tier-II Examination, based on the criterion of minimum qualifying marks. In Tier-II, there will be four papers each of 3 Hrs duration and 150 marks.

Tier-III (Interview)
Candidates from Tier-II Exam will be qualified for Tier-III in the ratio of 5 candidates for each vacancy (category-wise).
Structured Interview : 100 Marks
The Final merit will be prepared on the basis of marks obtained in Tier-II Exam (out of maximum 600 Marks) and marks obtained in Structured Interview (out of maximum 100 Marks).
Scheme of Examination for the post of Finance and Accounts officers
The examination scheme for this post is divided into three parts as follows:
Tier-I Exam

Structured Interview : 100 Marks
Final merit will be prepared based on the aggregate of marks (700 Marks), i.e., marks obtained by the candidates in Tier-II Exam (out of maximum 600 Marks) and marks obtained in Structured Interview (out of maximum 100 Marks).
