For the issuance of different certifications, affidavits are necessary to substantiate the facts stated by the applicants (residence etc.).
Affidavits are statements made by the applicants (sometimes backed up by third parties). For example, an affidavit signed by the applicant is sufficient for delayed registration of births up to one year, but affidavits signed by third parties are necessary for income certificates.
Affidavits may be required for new power connections, water and sewerage connections, and new projects in the public sector. As a result, an affidavit is a necessary precondition for the majority of need-based services. Affidavits usually need stamp paper and a stamp fee, as well as being sworn before a Magistrate or a Public Notary.
