100 new Sainik schools to provide opportunity to girl students to join armed forces
Defense Minister Rajnath Singh said on Saturday that the government’s intention to establish 100 new Sainik schools will allow female students to join the armed services and contribute to national security.
In an address to an online conference, Singh stated that the government is committed to increasing the role of women in the armed forces, and that a number of steps have been taken to that end, including allowing women to enroll in Sainik schools and providing permanent commissions to female officers.
“By establishing 100 new Sainik schools, females would be able to join the armed services and contribute to national security,” Singh added.
The Union Cabinet authorized the affiliation of 100 government and private schools with the Sainik School Society under the Ministry of Defense for the academic year 2022-23 in October.
According to Singh, “Sainik” stands for “unity, discipline, and devotion,” and “School” stands for “education.” As a result, Sainik schools play a critical role in preparing children to be capable citizens.
