IIT Madras’ Cultural Event ‘Saarang’ To Go Virtual
The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Madras announced on January 5 that students will virtually host the 27th edition of the annual cultural festival Saarang. From January 6 to 9, this will be a four-day event. “The theme for Saarang 2022 is ‘Lores and Legacies,’ reliving the recollections of fables and stories passed down through generations,” it stated.
The event will be streamed live for the second time in a row, despite worries of a COVID-19 epidemic.
“Due to these unusual times, this is the second year in a row that our students are essentially conducting both the cultural and technical festivals, which typically take place in January,” Professor Bhaskar Ramamurthi, Director, IIT Madras, stated at a news conference. Nonetheless, based on last year’s experience, students have demonstrated that a new paradigm does not always imply a festival lacking in spirit, participation, or quality. Last time, we had a great time at the event. I’m confident that this year, with the experience acquired, it will be even better."
