The UGC has issued a warning to Edtech companies that offer online and ODL programmes.
Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) and EdTech companies that have formed a partnership to offer online and open and distance learning (ODL) programmes have been warned by the University Grants Commission (UGC).
According to the commission, certain EdTech companies claim to be offering open and distance learning (ODL) and online programmes in collaboration with UGC-accredited colleges and universities, which is not permitted.
According to the UGC (Open and Distance Learning Programmes and Online Programmes) Regulations, 2020 and its revision, HEls are recognized/declared entitled by the UGC to offer ODL and/or online programmes. According to the regulations, HEIs are not permitted to provide these programmes through franchising agreements, and the institutions are solely liable for them.
