IIT-Gandhinagar Professor Amit Prashant Receives Gopal Ranjan Technology Award
Professor Amit Prashant of the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT-Gandhinagar) has been awarded the prestigious Gopal Ranjan Technology Award 2021. The professor was named the institute’s new officiating director.
Prof. Amit Prashant was honored for his outstanding contributions to civil engineering research, which range from fundamental soil mechanics to practical work on a variety of geotechnical constructions. According to the institute announcement, “his research focuses on constitutive modeling for granular materials, numerical modeling of geotechnical structures, seismic geotechnical engineering, and applications of geosynthetics.”
Every year, IIT Roorkee presents the Gopal Ranjan Technology Award to an Indian national or an IIT Roorkee alumnus for innovative work in the fields of soil characteristics, foundation engineering, ground improvement, soil structure interaction, engineering geology, underground structures, rock mechanics, and subsurface including marine structures in India.
