The Atal Ranking of Institutions on Innovation Achievements (ARIIA) is a government of India project to systematically rate all major higher educational institutions and universities in India based on factors linked to “Innovation and Entrepreneurship Development” among students and faculty.
Important Features of ARIIA
- All key parameters/ indicators used globally to rank education institutions for innovation output are considered in the approach used to compute ARIIA measures. In addition, ARIIA assesses other parameters that are unique to India, based on the current state of higher education in the country.
- The ARIIA criteria are divided into seven basic broad categories, each with seven indications that are further subdivided into appropriate sub-heads. A total weight is ascribed to each broad head. The numerous sub-heads within each head also have an appropriate weight distribution.
- An attempt is also made to determine the essential data needed to adequately measure the performance score under each sub-head in order to provide transparency in the ranking system. The focus here is on finding data that the institution can easily offer or receive from third-party sources, as well as data that is easily verifiable wherever verification is required. The total score is calculated using the weights assigned to each head.
- The overall score can reach a maximum of 100 points.
- The universities will be ranked in order of their scores.
