Show-cause notice issued to private varsities
Private universities have been issued with a show-cause notice for partnering with edtech companies to offer degree programmes.
The All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) has issued show-cause warnings to two private institutions for delivering degree and diploma courses in conjunction with ed-tech corporations, citing a blatant violation of standards.
The technical education regulator’s action comes after it and the University Grants Commission (UGC) warned universities and colleges against delivering distant learning and online courses in collaboration with edtech businesses, claiming that no “franchise” deal is allowed under the rules.
