The INFLIBNET Centre is a major national initiative launched by the University Grants Commission in March 1991 as a project under the Inter-University Centre for Astronomy and Astrophysics (IUCAA).
In June 1996, it became an autonomous Inter-University Centre.
INFLIBNET is working to modernise university libraries in India by implementing cutting-edge technology to maximise the use of information.
INFLIBNET aspires to be a prominent player in fostering intellectual dialogue among Indian academics and researchers.
Main Objectives
- Create a virtual network of people and resources in academic institutions using cutting-edge technology with the goal of providing effective and efficient access to knowledge via tenacity, innovation, and collaboration.
- Provide academic communities at all educational institutions with seamless, dependable, and ubiquitous access to scholarly, peer-reviewed electronic resources, with a focus on services, tools, procedures, and practises that enable successful use and maximise the value of this information.
- Build and strengthen educational institutions’ ICT infrastructure by providing value-added services.
- Develop secure and convenient access management systems, techniques, and procedures that allow users to access information in electronic format from anywhere, at any time.
- Create resource selection guides and online tutorials to ensure that e-resources are delivered and used effectively.
