Women make up approximately one-third of applicants for the National Defence Academy’s (NDA) entrance exam, which will be held this year, according to the government.
Out of a total of 5,75,856 applications to the NDA, 1,77,654 are women candidates, said Ajay Bhatt, Minister of State for Defence, in a written reply to a question in the Rajya Sabha.
Necessary infrastructure and facilities for training female candidates are in place, the written statement continues. In the UPSC notification, medical standards were mentioned. Physical criteria for female cadets will be finalised before training begins, according to the minister.
