Meghaadhikari Indira Gandhi Rashtriya Uran Akademi(IGRUA) On November 7, 1985, the then-Hon’ble Prime Minister of India, Late Capt Rajiv Gandhi, lay the foundation stone for the Indira Gandhi Rashtriya Uran Akademi, or IGRUA. Through its Governing Council(GC), the Akademi is overseen by the Ministry of Civil Aviation (MoCA) of the Government of India (GOI). The Indira Gandhi Rashtriya Uran Akademi (IGRUA), based in Fursatganj, Uttar Pradesh, is an autonomous agency under the Ministry of Civil Aviation’s authority. The Akademi is headed by a Director who is assisted by Departmental heads of Operations, Services, Finance and HR. At IGRUA, foreign nationals from Afghanistan, Royal Nepal Airlines, Mauritius, Zambia, and Seychelles received pilot training. Refresher courses are held on a regular basis for all Chief Flying Instructors/Pilot Instructor Incharges of flying clubs. IGRUA also provides pilot training to Indian Airlines, BSF, Coast Guard, Indian Air Force, and Indian Navy candidates on an as-needed basis. Currently, over 150 students are undergoing training, and we are working hard to increase seats each year. IGRUA continues to set the bar for uniformity and excellence in flight training, making it the first choice for airlines when hiring pilots. IGRUA is evolving into a civil aviation knowledge and talent development centre. The National Aviation University, along with the IGRUA complex’s hostels and staff quarters, is now fully functioning, and numerous courses in airport administration, airport operations, and firefighting are being taught. The IGRUA AME school building is complete, and classes will begin soon. Candidates undergoing AME in various Indian private institutes receive on-the-job training from IGRUA.
