IIT Delhi researchers develop high efficiency portable solar PV towers
A team led by physicist Dalip Singh Mehta from IIT Delhi has built high-efficiency, shadow-less (solar panels at the bottom are not shadowed by top panels) and auto rotating Solar PV towers for photovoltaic power generation in a given area throughout the day. With high energy density (kWh/m2), the designed ‘non-mechanical’ and mechanical’ tracking solar PV towers with reflection concentration are practical for all Indian seasons of the year.
Furthermore, the mechanical’ tracking Solar PV tower is portable, meaning that the entire unit can be installed on a truck, made operational, and transported wherever to generate electricity.
