Why Students want to be in IITs rather than in any other Engineering colleges?
I think it’s human nature to chase for something that is more popular than others, unfortunately. The same thing happens here. There is no doubt that IITs are far more well-known than other technical schools in India. As a result, many individuals believe that getting into IIT is the only way to become a good engineer. I have even observed that this mentality has affected our system to the point where students compromise their branch in order to gain admission to IITs when they can get the branch of their choice at any other university.
Apart for facts mentioned above, Students will also have the opportunity to meet famous academics, scientists, and Nobel laureates, as well as be considered for fellowships, scholarships, and project funding. The students also get internship programmes at some of the world’s top universities, such as MIT and Harvard.
Are IITs really overrated?
Colleges are not overrated in any way.
Getting hyped about getting an IIT is pathetically overrated.
IITs are much like any other Graduate School, with a few more possibilities to achieve and a few better minds surrounding you. The colleges aren’t particularly costly. Although the residential campus offers a delightful way of life, these are rarely the reasons why people talk about IITs. The salaries are always the source of the media getting mad. Now, engineering schools are more of a job provider than before. During the four years, you can either climb to the top or drown somewhere in the crowd. Your ability to tolerate pressure and create new things will determine the outcome.
I think you need a cold bath if you think your child needs to attend a coaching programme in class 8 to get into one of the IITs. This is why the IITs are so much more alarmingly overrated. It is not a guarantee of success. Don’t ruin your children’s adolescence because of it.
It is very unfortunate to see that it’s all become about salary and up to a great extent, reputation.
