The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Madras Pravartak Technologies Foundation has partnered with Asha For Education to open rural technology centers to introduce computer science to students in remote and rural public schools in Tamil Nadu. Two centers were opened on February 11, 2022 in Kanakamma Chatram and Sitangeri villages of Thiruvallur district.
“These centers will spread knowledge about the technology and its benefits in rural areas of Tamil Nadu. The centers will train students in Class 9-12. The IIT Madras Pravartak Technologies Foundation is providing financial support for this project, and technical support is also provided.
Asha for Education is a global action group that has been working with elementary and secondary schools since 2015 to educate students in both digital literacy and computational thinking.
