On February 10, the National Institute of Educational Planning and Administration (NIEPA) hosted a virtual ceremony for the 5th National Award for Educational Administration Innovations and Best Practices.
Subhas Sarkar, the Minister of State for Education, was invited to present the prizes to district and block level education officers from the country’s 29 states and union territories. Over a hundred policemen earned an award or a certificate of appreciation this year.
“District education officers are the crucial link between the system-level administration and the field-level educational administration,” Sarkar stated during the event. Their work is critical in ensuring that policies and programmes are implemented effectively and that educational services are delivered efficiently.
Sarkar also emphasised the need of block level education officers, who serve as the field’s actual implementing agencies. He went on to say that the effectiveness of any programme and the desired outcomes are determined by the educational administration at the district and sub-district levels. At these levels, an effective officer can make a significant difference.
