With the support of the National Education Policy(NEP), Union Minister of Agriculture and Farmers Narendra Singh Tomar has advised to make the agriculture industry more employment-oriented. He emphasised that the collaborative efforts will aid in the growth of the country’s agricultural industry, as well as empower farmers and increase their income.
Tomar praised the indomitable efforts of the agricultural scientists, instructors, students, and farmers involved with the Council when speaking at the ICAR Society’s 92nd Annual General Meeting. He also emphasised that the hard work of the farmers and the latest agricultural technologies produced by agricultural specialists have enabled the country reach a significant position in the global milk production and fisheries sectors.
He also discussed the ICAR’s science-based approach to resolving numerous agricultural and farming issues, as well as the government’s plans to double farmers’ income by 2022.
The minister emphasised that the ICAR remained relevant even during the difficult times of the COVID-19 epidemic by achieving significant development in the production of many essential food crops.
