Centre brings all higher education institutions under Academic Bank of Credit system
Students in colleges and universities across India will now be able to transfer between institutions while pursuing courses, thanks to the Centre’s decision to bring all higher education institutions under the Academic Bank of Credit (ABC) system, which is part of the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020.
Students will be able to enter and exit universities several times using the ABC system. This means that a student can complete one year of education at one institution and then transfer to a different university to complete the second year of the same programme, and so on.
The UGC has asked that colleges and universities inform students about the ABC programme and encourage them to register an academic bank account.
According to educationists, this will provide students the freedom to customise their study schedule and earn their degrees at their own pace.
