Meghaadhikari FutureSkills Prime, launched in 2018, is a joint initiative by the Ministry of Electronics & Information Technology (MeitY) and the IT Industry led by NASSCOM. The program is being extended under the GoI’s flagship Champion Service Sector (CSS) Scheme. According to research, 50 percent of the IT industry’s 4 million employees will need to be reskilled in the next three years. Furthermore, every industry is being disrupted by digital disruption. The government and industry hope to reskill/upskill a total of 1.4 million employees over the next five years through this project (1 million through company-supported (B2B) skilling and another 0.4 million through this government-supported/facilitated (B2C) plan). FutureSkills Prime is one of the government’s trillion-dollar Digital Economy initiative’s lighthouse programmes. The platform would provide interested candidates with multiple options for their skilling needs. Through this platform, learners can exit at multiple points in their learning journey. They can earn badges for digital fluency, earn certificates from courses aligned to the government-approved curriculum, go through blended learning from key program partners like CDAC/NIELIT and complete bridge and foundations course.
