I came to know about this field while reading an article on Numismatics.
Numismatics is the study of coins, which is regarded to be an important component of comprehending any region’s history.
Amit Kumar Upadhyay, assistant professor at Banaras Hindu University (BHU) Varanasi’s Department of AIHCA (Ancient Indian History, Culture, and Archeology), recently received a prestigious grant from the Indian National Science Academy (INSA) to study local punch mark coins (2800 years old) discovered in Uttar Pradesh. While reading about his achievement I came to know about this field that there is a field that study about coin and their importance in telling about any region’s history.
While reading the article about his achievement I came to know that this field is a very lesser known field among students due to less participation in it and also due to less qualified professors and teachers in this field. If we don’t have a qualified guide in a field then if a student want to be study and do well in something he cannot do it properly. Like this there are plenty of field or subjects that are unknown or less popular among students. This al is because of less scope and opportunities present in that area in India and also due to less skilled and qualified professionals in that particular area.
Education system needs to focus o making students aware about these unknown areas and grow more skilled professionals in it.
