Nice to see that our government is being unstoppable, it’s launched a programme after ‘Digital India’ and ‘Make in India.’ This is an updated version of programmes that were previously released as part of the skill development initiative. This new initiative, called as ‘Skill India,’ is specially a multi-skill initiative. It was released in March of 2015. ‘Skill India,’ like all of Prime Minister’s other programmes, is a dream project of his, and work to launch it has already begun. And as I have observed, he’ll surely gonna get success in this initiative too. Impressive right?
The programme has the following Objectives as they do mention:
The major purpose is to provide chances, space, and scope for the development of Indian youth’s skills, as well as to develop more of those sectors that have been under skill development for many years and to find new skill development sectors. The initiative tends to provide training and skill development to 500 million young people across the country, encompassing every community by 2020. To attain this goal, a variety of solutions have been proposed.
Here are some features of Skill India programme they have promised with:
a) The focus is on equipping youths with the skills they need to find work and grow their businesses.
b) All traditional occupations such as carpenters, cobblers, welders, blacksmiths, masons, nurses, tailors, and weavers receive training, assistance, and advice.
c) More attention will be placed on new areas such as real estate, construction, transportation, textiles, gem business, jewellery design, finance, tourism, and other industries where skill development is lacking or non-existent.
There has been some significant impacts of this programme, here are some changes that I have observed:
a) Experts predict that India’s GDP would grow at a rate of 7% by 2030, making it the world’s second largest economy. This indicates that India, with its skilled workforce and “Skill India” effort, will have a bright future.
b) Over the course of four years, the Skill India Impact Bond will support 50,000 young people in India, 60% of whom will be women and girls, by providing them with skills and training as well as wage-employment opportunities in Covid-19 recovery sectors such as retail, apparel, healthcare, and logistics.
