One situation that I see today very clearly is regarding SC/St students. Why even in today’s world of online education, and other such facilities, many students are concerned about their career, and are very choosy when choosing the teachers? And their expectations hardly gets fulfilled. A similar scenario that was observed was that faculty in engineering and polytechnic colleges are in limited supply. And I don’t think it’s uncommon ignoring SC/St teachers for this.
According to the government , the problem can be solved by encouraging pre-final and final-year degree students to pursue post-graduate studies to SC/ST students. The Prerna programme will provide financial assistance to institutes who are ready to go above and beyond in motivating and teaching SC/ST students for having post-graduation.
The AICTE would give a limited one-time financial support of Rs.10 lakh under the recurring head, which will be used to cover the cost of honoraria for Eminent Faculty Members who are invited to conduct sessions at a rate of Rs.2000 per class minimum 2 hrs.
Note that there will be no TA/DA.
Students will be reimbursed for their exam application fees under this scheme.
The parent institution must provide adequate space for SC/ST students to attend classes.
I think Govt should be aware of the difficulties faced in these areas and be quick to eradicate them.
