The initiative by the government to consider Disabled people for the national fellowship program is commendable. I think it can help a large number of scholars who are disabled.
But it can be of no use if it does not reach the related candidates, So I am sharing here some details regarding the fellowship, and if anyone wants to add more information please do that in the reply section.
The scheme caters to a total number of 200 slots per year for students with disabilities. The scheme covers all universities/institutions recognized by the University Grants Commission (UGC) and Non-Universities/Institutions and is implemented by the UGC itself on the pattern of the scheme of UGC Fellowship being awarded to research students pursuing M.Phil. and Ph.D.
These fellowships will be available to students with disabilities who are covered under The Persons with Disabilities (Equal Opportunities, Protection of Rights and Full Participation) Act, 1995.
