I am really confused and nervous about this concern. If something lacks in my qualifications that a job demands, shul I lie in my resume? Would it be a illegal offense??

No, do not ever do that. You know once this happened that I gave wrong information, though not unethical, I was outright rejected and was even scolded for this. So do not commit this blunder. Lying on your resume is not acceptable. If the employer discovers this, your application also will be instantly rejected for sure.
Lying on your CV/resume is not only unethical but it also makes it easier than ever for employers to fact-check your documents thanks to social media and modern technology. If you get employed after lying on your resume, you risk losing your job and your professional networking chances. Though it’s not illegal.
Lies, as almost everyone learns at some point, may get out of control. To cover up the first lie, you’ll have to tell further lies, which will become so messy that it would affect your productivity and self confidence too!!
Lying on a resume, cover letter, or job application isn’t technically illegal. These forms aren’t legal documents, so usually you can’t get prosecuted for lying on them. However, if you falsify documents that “back up” claims of educational history, for example, that could be grounds for trouble with the law.
The employee and employer relationship is one that’s built upon trust. Finding out that the job was granted based on fictitious information causes this trust to be breached.
