Researchers at the Indian Institute for Science Education and Research in Bhopal (IISERB) have developed organic polymers that can remove highly polar organic micro-pollutants (POM) from water and make it safe for consumption.
These polymers have already been tested to remove polar organic micropollutants on a laboratory scale, the researchers said. Large-scale production of these materials, in collaboration with industrial partners, will open a promising avenue for real-time purification of water from toxic polar organic micro-pollutants, they said.
The results were published in the authoritative peer-reviewed journal of the American Chemical Society ACS Applied Materials and Interfaces.
