The Chief Minister of Assam Himanta Biswa Sarma inaugurated Lakhimpur medical college and hospital (LMCH) on Tuesday. The eighth medical college hospital is started in Upper district Lakhimpur of Assam state. CM termed it a key project that will give a major boost to the state’s medical infrastructure. LMCH has built on 168 bigha of land in lakhimpur with the cost of INR 500.89 crore. The intake capacity of this college is 100. CM stated that the medical college would be upgraded to the PG level to meed the need of super-speciality doctors. The CM give assurance that in following years all the villages in Assam will have at least two doctors. In next financial year, he has a plan to set up 5 more medical colleges in various districts of Assam.
