On Wednesday, the Center launched an umbrella initiative to ensure that the benefits of its education, health care and housing schemes reach denoted, nomadic and semi-nomadic tribes across the country.
Social Justice and Empowerment Minister Virendra Kumar has launched a dedicated portal to ensure seamless registration for benefits under the scheme and will also act as a data repository for these communities.
Under the Denotified Tribes (DNT), Semi-Nomadic Tribes (SNT) and Nomadic Tribes (NT) - SEED - Economic Empowerment Scheme, the government aims to provide free education to students for the civil service exams, competitive exams for entry into vocational courses. ; medical insurance; livelihood and housing.
The scheme is the first small step towards progress and development, but not the last for these communities that have been neglected and apathetic for years, Singh said at the scheme’s launch event.
