I have observed that in the recent past years, the latest examinations conducted by various exam bodies contained more questions in the current affairs category. Current affairs is important for students and aspirants who want to pass Govt. exams, because questions about current events are asked in every competitive test, whether it’s for IAS, bank PO/clerks, PSUs, SSCs, etc. I saw that in recent IAS tests, more than half of the questions in both the preliminary and mains examinations were based on current affairs. So to be updated is quite important, since more number of question are being asked in Govt competitive exams, I think its very much possible that the scene is going to be same or even the number of question might rise.
Also, I think globalisation has changed the entire world into a global village; as a result, any incident occurring in one part of the world has begun to influence people on the other side of the globe. As a result, it’s important to read current affairs from this perspective too.
