The state education department of Assam has started distribution of textbooks for free. They decided to start distributing over 3.22 crore textbooks in nine medium which are printed in 19 different languages for around 62 lakh students. The ceremonial dispatch of free textbooks for academic session 2022-2023 at Assam state textbook production and publication corporation (ASTPPC) was inaugurated by the Education minister of Assam Ranoj Peju. These free 3,22,58,564 textbooks will be delivered to 149 education blocks of 34 district of Assam. Pegu stated and ensuring free education for all the students in government and provincialized schools.

It is a good initiative programme by Assam government because it helps many students, come from backward areas and also helps poor children.
