I see this as the most frequently asked question in the field of govt job preparation. I have also wondered about this. So to tell you honestly both has its own pros and cons. One basic thing which concerns me personally is whether you want a job in your state or you want it in other state.
I have listed four aspects to it, that will help you decide accordingly.
Salary comparison in the Central and State Government jobs
I think central wins the race here. In comparison to state government jobs, the central government offers a superior income, allowances, and benefits. CGHS, as well as various other benefits such as LTC, are only available to Central Government employees.Growth and Promotion in the Central and State Government jobs
In comparison to the state government growth process, the central government has higher chances in terms of exposure and promotion. Again central is the winner.Transfers between the central and state government jobs
I think here state govt is better. Because transfers will be limited to inside the state, whereas the Central Government position will allow you to be transferred anywhere in India.
