Peer pressure is the direct or indirect influence on people of peers, members or social groups with similar interest, experiences or social structure. Members of a peer group likely to influence a person’s beliefs and behaviour. In today’s fast paced world, children wants to spend less time with their parents and more time with their parents, evens if via social media. Peer influence is that powerful. There are also different types of peer pressure for this age group, negative and positive.
Positive peer pressure can help teen develop the necessary skills for adulthood. It encourages teen to become more active and to avoid risky behaviours which can be dangerous for them. On the other hand Negative peer pressure can lead a student in a bad direction. It could lead them for some wrong activities such as drinking alcohol, taking drugs or skipping schools which can put their health at risk.
