Against all odds, Tufail Ahmad from Srinagar became the first Jammu and Kashmiri to pass the National Entrance Test (NEET). Due to a lack of coaching opportunities, he prepared for NEET by watching YouTube videos on his mobile phone, but even that wasn’t easy. Tufail, originally from the village of Mulnar Harwan in Srinagar, had to travel to the nearest town to get internet access to download YouTube videos to his mobile phone.
Unable to reach his village, young Tufail had to travel more than two kilometers every day to enroll in a public school. Tufail said that by becoming a doctor, he wants to serve the locals in his village, who have to travel several kilometers to get medical help.
Traveling through Tufail will surely inspire thousands of local Kashmiri youth to achieve more in life.
