In answer to your question, both courses are aimed at preparing teachers for the initial stage of education, i.e. I-VIII classes. The goal of primary education is to meet the basic learning needs of all children in an inclusive school environment, bridging social and gender differences with the active participation of the community.
There is no technical difference other than the name of the course. Both courses are designed to train primary school teachers, i.e. Senior Primary School (grades VI to VIII).
Students may join a D.Ed or D.El.Ed course after Year 12 (Senior High School).
Important points to remember:
- Both courses must be two years.
- The length of study must be approved by the NCTE College/Institute.
- If you have obtained a D.Ed or D.El.Ed qualification after 10+2, you can apply for the TET exam (Document I), i.e. for primary school teachers.
- If you have 10+2+3 and a D.Ed or D.El.Ed degree, you can take the TET exam (Paper I and Paper II both).
