Unique Disability ID (UDID) Card
The Department of Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities’ UDID project intends to provide a holistic end-to-end integrated system for the issuance of Universal ID & Disability Certificates for Persons with Disabilities that include their identifying and disability details. The disabled person is identified by a unique Disability ID. The government is compiling a national database of disabled people. The UDID will be used to create this database. The Swavlamban Yojna is funding the creation of this UDID database.
Benefits
- Persons with disabilities will no longer need to make numerous copies of documents, store multiple documents, or carry multiple documents because the card will collect all of the relevant information, which can be decoded using a reader.
- In the future, the UDID card will be the only proof of identity and verification for disabled people seeking various benefits.
- The UDID Card will also make it easier to track beneficiaries’ physical and financial success at all levels of the implementation hierarchy, including the village, block, district, state, and national levels.
