About this training programme
Women Training, which is overseen by the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship, is responsible for offering skill training to women across the country with the goal of increasing work prospects for women of all socioeconomic levels and ages.
In 1977, the Women’s Vocational Training Program (WVTP) was created with the goal of mainstreaming women into economic activity. In March 1977, with the help of the Swedish International Development Agency (SIDA) and the International Labour Organization (ILO), a programme on women’s vocational training was developed. This project identified and organised the development of vocational trades that were particularly suitable for women.
Women’s Vocational Training Program encourages women to pursue vocational training for wage jobs in industry, as teachers, and for self-employment.
