  • What are the differences between Social Sciences and Humanities?

One of my close friends have been a student of humanities and he is doing quite well, contrary to what is believed. Following are the different between social science and humanities:

  • The systematic study of social, cultural, psychological, political, and economic elements that influence a person’s actions and decisions is known as social science. Humanities refers to any discipline of study related to human culture, such as literature, anthropology, history, art, music, and philosophy.
    -
  • Because social science research is founded on reality, it is relevant regardless of the historical period studied, i.e. whether the research is undertaken in ancient times or in the present. As a result, social science is objective by definition. Humanities, on the other hand, is subjective in that it is based on assumptions and ideologies.
    -
  • Humanities use an analytical approach to solving problems, whereas social science takes a scientific method. As a result, the humanities place a greater focus on feelings and emotions than on the method in use.
    -
  • Social science includes the study of tradition, culture, and heritage. Humanities, on the other hand, seek to determine the factual contrasts between humanity and pure science.

AshishSrivastava Education officials and reformers don’t promote the humanities because, for all the hype about keeping us aware of our higher purposes or enriching us with the noble and beautiful facts, the humanities as taught and studied today have almost nothing meaningful or even entertaining to offer.
