The SSC Steno exam has two grades- PA (Group B) and Stenographer (Group C).
Because the nature of a Stenographer’s work differs depending on where you are assigned, it is difficult to generalize.
Stenographer Grade C candidates are more likely to get work in the Central Government’s Ministries and Departments in Delhi.
Candidates for Stenographer Grade D are divided into two groups- Group X and Group Y. Stenographers in Group X work in central government departments, especially in Delhi. Stenographers in Group Y work for the Indian government in various departments around the country.
