CBSE has removed a controversial passage from the Class-10 English exam.
Following an outcry over the board allegedly encouraging “gender-based discrimination” and supporting “regressive beliefs,” the CBSE removed a comprehension text and accompanying questions from the Class-10 English test and decided to grant full marks to pupils. the Central Board of Secondary Education (SBSE) sent the case to subject specialists for their input.
The question paper for the Class 10 test on Saturday had a comprehension section with statements like “emancipation of women weakened the parents’ control over the children” and “a mother could only obtain obedience over the younger ones by adopting her husband’s way,” among others.
