JUNIOR RESEARCH FELLOW (JRF)
The Junior Research Fellow is a letter awarded by the University Grants Commission (UGC) to those students who crack the National Eligibility Test (NET) securing equal/higher than the set cut off for JRF in the desired particular subject. Those candidates who have qualified NET-JRF are offered to go for advance studies and examination prompting M.Phil./Ph.D. certificates in Social Sciences including Languages and Sciences and Humanities.
The main Advantage of NET-JRF for those students who are shortlisted for M.Phil./Ph.D. in any Indian University/College gets a monthly scholarship for 5 years from UGC which is INR 25,000. This is a good step to support the financial conditions of candidates who wish to pursue research work without taking up any job.
SENIOR RESEARCH FELLOW (SRF)
The Senior Research Fellow is a Senior research position from JRF. If you crack the test which is conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA), you will be shortlisted for multiple benefits. Firstly, you will get chances to directly appear in the interview. You will also provided some financial support for you M.Phil./Ph.D. course. Those students who are enrolled will get monthly scholarship for next 5 years which is around INR 28,000.
Many professors take up individual research projects, for their career growth. These projects are generally funded by UGC, CSIR, DST, DRDO and other similar other organizations.
